Meet the All-New Nissan PIXO: A Small Electric City Car with Big Practicality
Nissan has unveiled the PIXO, a small, all-electric city car designed specifically for Europe's towns and cities. It joins the recently launched Leaf and Micra to widen Nissan's electric line-up, and it's aimed at drivers looking for an accessible way into electric motoring.
Here's what we know so far.
Range and charging for everyday journeys
The Nissan PIXO uses a 27.5kWh battery, which Nissan says delivers up to 161 miles of WLTP range. That's well suited to the school runs, shopping trips and commutes that make up most urban driving.
It's also the first Nissan in Europe to use a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Charging options are:
- DC rapid charging: 50kW as standard on every version, taking the battery from 15% to 80% in around 28 minutes
- AC charging: up to 11kW, for home and workplace charging
Compact outside, roomy inside
At 3,796mm long and 1,790mm wide, the PIXO is easy to park and manoeuvre, helped by a tight 9.9-metre turning circle. Inside, Nissan says there's room for up to four adults.
Practicality is a big part of the pitch:
- Boot space: 356 litres with the rear seats up (including 50 litres for charging cables) and 1,221 litres with them folded, a figure Nissan describes as best in class
- Sliding rear seats: independent sliding seats make it easier to free up space for larger items
- Storage: 18 litres of in-cabin storage
Technology and driver assistance
The PIXO has a 7-inch driver display and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen. Highlights include:
- Google built-in: navigation and real-time route planning
- Gemini voice assistant: natural voice control for navigation, entertainment and communication, available at launch in 16 languages and dialects
- Face ID: recognises the driver and loads their personal settings
- MyNissan app: manage charging and vehicle functions remotely
- Driver assistance: adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Lane Departure Warning and Hands-Free Parking, all standard
- One Pedal driving: start, accelerate, slow down and stop using just the accelerator, which is handy in stop-start traffic
With 60kW of power, the electric motor delivers instant response away from the lights.
Design with personality
The PIXO's boxy, cube-inspired shape is paired with pixel-style lighting and a playful "robot face" front bumper. Designers also hid "23" Easter eggs around the car, a nod to "ni-san" (two-three) in Japanese. Colours include Wonder Purple and Gear Blue. It was designed at Nissan Design Europe in Paddington, London.
Where is it built, and when can you get one?
Nissan designed the PIXO, and Renault will build it at its Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. Customer deliveries are due to begin in early 2027. Pricing, market specifications and pre-order details will be announced from December.
Why it matters
Small electric cars are one of the fastest-growing areas of the market. Many drivers want something affordable, easy to park and simple to live with, without paying for more battery than they need. Nissan says the PIXO is built around exactly that, with fast charging as standard and a focus on usable space.
