All-New Nissan LEAF Arrives at J Edgar & Son in Cumbria
Electric motoring has taken a significant step forward, with the all-new Nissan LEAF now available to view, order and test drive at J Edgar & Son, the region's trusted Nissan dealer with showrooms in Frizington and Workington. After months of anticipation, Cumbrian drivers can finally get behind the wheel of one of the most talked-about electric vehicles on the market, engineered and built right here in the UK.
The Nissan LEAF has long been a pioneer of mainstream electric motoring, and this latest generation pushes the model further than ever before. J Edgar & Son's team describe the newcomer as "the next electric intelligence" — a car designed not just to be efficient, but genuinely exciting to drive, live with and charge.
An Impressive Range for Everyday Driving
One of the standout figures behind the new LEAF is its range. Depending on specification, drivers can expect up to 386 miles on a single charge from the 75kWh Engage model, tested to the WLTP Combined Cycle standard. That kind of range removes much of the "range anxiety" that has historically put drivers off switching to electric, making the LEAF a genuinely usable option for commuting across Cumbria, weekend trips to the Lakes, or longer motorway journeys.
Charging has also had a serious upgrade. Thanks to a Battery Thermal Management System that keeps the battery at an optimal temperature, the new LEAF can recover up to 273 miles of range in as little as 30 minutes when using a rapid DC charging station. For those charging at home, a full top-up from 10% to 100% takes around seven hours on an 11kW home charger — perfect for an overnight charge ready for the next day.
Drivers can manage all of this through the Nissan Charge app, which gives access to an extensive network of public chargers across the UK, while the NissanConnect app allows owners to remotely schedule charging, warm up or cool down the cabin, and lock or unlock the car — all from a smartphone.
Clever Technology Throughout
Beyond the battery, the new LEAF is packed with smart features that set it apart from previous generations. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology allows the car's battery to power external appliances of up to 3.1kW, useful for camping trips, outdoor events, or simply keeping essentials running during a power cut. Owners can even set a minimum battery reserve through the NissanConnect app to make sure there's always enough charge left for the journey home.
For those who want a helping hand on longer drives, ProPILOT with Navi-Link allows the LEAF to accelerate, brake, and even come to a stop and restart in traffic, easing the workload on busy roads. Meanwhile, the in-car route planner — powered by Google Maps — automatically suggests sensible charging stops along a route based on location, battery level, and charger availability, taking the guesswork out of longer trips.
Inside the cabin, two 14.3-inch screens form the centrepiece of the LEAF's infotainment system, offering full compatibility with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Google is also built directly into the car, meaning drivers can use Google Assistant hands-free, stream music and shows through the Google Play app store, and plan journeys without needing to plug in a phone at all.
Design That Turns Heads
It isn't just under the skin where the new LEAF impresses. Its teardrop-shaped silhouette has been designed to reduce air resistance, contributing to that class-leading range, while distinctive 3D rear lighting wraps around the back of the car for a genuinely futuristic look. Despite its compact, easy-to-manoeuvre dimensions, the LEAF still offers up to 437 litres of boot space along with smart interior storage solutions — proof that efficiency doesn't have to come at the expense of practicality.
A Dimming Panoramic Roof is also available, letting light flood into the cabin while giving occupants full control over glare and privacy at the touch of a button.
Available Now in Frizington and Workington
The all-new Nissan LEAF qualifies for the UK Government's Electric Car Grant, worth £3,750, which is already reflected in the advertised pricing — with the LEAF 75kWh Engage available from £32,249 (excluding optional paint and personalisation). Finance options, including PCP through Nissan Financial Services, are available through the dealership's finance team, who can talk customers through the most suitable package for their circumstances.
J Edgar & Son's Motability Specialist is also on hand for customers looking to explore the LEAF through the Motability Scheme.
Anyone keen to experience the new LEAF for themselves is invited to visit the Nissan showroom at Daleside Garage, Rowrah Road, Frizington, Cumbria, CA26 3XJ, or get in touch with the Rowrah sales team on 01946 861607 to book a test drive. With strong range, rapid charging and genuinely clever technology, the all-new Nissan LEAF looks set to be one of the most significant electric vehicle launches West Cumbria has seen in years.
